Safeguarding

Professionals/those working in a professional capacity should access Safeguarding training matched to their level of responsibility.

For professionals at the ‘refresher’ stage of their training we have ‘Refresher’ courses integrated into the main OSCB programme.  For some sectors our Specific Outcomes of Serious Case Reviews course will also meet mandatory refresher safeguarding remits.

  • Introductory E-learning course - For staff who have limited contact with children/young people and their families, who have no case responsibilities but who need some awareness to safeguarding due to the settings and/or client base of their organisation/service.  Also suitable for delegates who are new to Oxfordshire but who have previously completed safeguarding training but require training from their new employer covering the Oxfordshire safeguarding dynamics.  This course is also a prerequisite to OSCB courses (expect Generalist and Refresher courses).
  • Generalist Safeguarding Course - This course does not require any prior learning and has been designed for participants who work with children/young people or their families for approximately 3 days a month or more and do not have a specific safeguarding lead and/or responsibility.
  • Refresher (Generalist) – For delegates at their 3 year refresher stage; who have previously undertaken the Generalist course or its predecessor Group B/equivalent via organisation internal training.
  • Specialist Safeguarding Course – This course requires completion of the OSCB E-learning Introductory course and is designed to serve Oxfordshire’s workforce who work with children, young people, families or carers in a lead/designated/named members for their organisation or have a specific safeguarding responsibility within their job role.
  • Refresher (Specialist) – For delegates at their 2 year refresher stage and who have previously undertaken the Specialist or its predecessor Group C training in full. Completion of the OSCB E-Learning Introductory course is not applicable for this course.
